ZhenFund is a seed fund founded by Xu Xiaoping (Bob) and Wang Qiang (Victor), co-founders of New Oriental Education & Technology Group (NYSE: EDU), along with Sequoia Capital China.
Xu Xiaoping and Wang Qiang are pioneers of the angel investment community in China, having invested in nearly 80 companies between 2006 and 2011. ZhenFund began its collaboration with Sequoia Capital China in 2011 and has invested in nearly 100 companies together since 2011.
ZhenFund focuses on seed stage investments in TMT sectors such as the internet of things, mobile, gaming, enterprise, O2O, e-commerce as well as education. Some of our companies include Jiayuan (Nasdaq: DATE), Lightinthebox (Nasdaq: LITB), Jumei (NYSE: JMEI), 17zuoye, Meilele, Zhaogang, Dayima, and 51talk.

Bob is the Founder of ZhenFund. He is also known as one of the China's pioneering angel investors, with distinctions from Founder Magazine as "2010 Most Respected Angel Investor," "2011 Angel Investor of the Year," "2012 Best Angel Fund in China," "2013 Best Angel investor in China" and "2013 Zhongguancun Angel Investor Trailblazer."
Prior to founding ZhenFund, Bob was a Co-Founder of New Oriental Education & Technology Group (NYSE: EDU), the largest provider of private education in China. He is considered a legendary figure by millions of young Chinese students studying abroad who were influenced by his writing, teaching and speeches.
In 2006, China Southern People's Weekly voted Bob to be one of China's "50 Most Charismatic People" and in 2004, Forbes Magazine listed Bob as one of China's "Top 100 Celebrities."
Victor is the Co-Founder of ZhenFund. In addition to being a respected business man, he is also a well-known humanities and philosophy scholar. As such, Victor is also ZhenFund's Director of Entrepreneurial Thought and frequently advises portfolio companies on their mission and vision. He is also a famous collector and lover of rare books.
Prior to ZhenFund, Victor was a Co-Founder of New Oriental Education & Technology Group (NYSE: EDU), the largest provider of private education in China. He served as Vice President and Chairman of the Board of Directors at New Oriental and established New Oriental's spoken English division. His popular English classes were reported in-depth by Time Magazine in 2000. Victor also hosted a popular TV show called "From Word to the World", which was widely broadcasted on more than 30 channels in China.
Yazhe is a Board Member and Partner of ZhenFund. Prior to ZhenFund, Mr. Zhang managed New Oriental Education & Technology Group's (NYSE: EDU) public relations, branding, media and marketing departments. He was also the Operating Director of New Oriental's Research Institute for Education, Culture and Overseas Study. He currently serves as a council member for 21 Century's Education Research Institute and as an advisor to Boyu Capital. He participated in establishing the Private Education Institute at Peking University and Peking University's China Capital Research Center. He was also an investment advisor to Providence Capital China.
Anna is the General Manager of ZhenFund where she oversees ZhenFund’s investments, portfolio management and operations. Since joining ZhenFund in 2011, Anna has managed over 70 seed stage investments in the TMT and education sectors. She also sits on the Boards of many of ZhenFund’s investments. Before joining ZhenFund, Anna worked at GE China in Corporate Business Development. She started her career as an investment banker with J.P. Morgan in New York. Anna was named one of the 40 Under 40 Investors by China's Entrepreneur Magazine in 2014.
Anna received her undergraduate degree from Columbia University, and a Master of Business Administration from Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Susan is the Chief Financial Officer of ZhenFund. Prior to joining ZhenFund, Susan worked at KPMG for a total of 8 years in China and the US, where she managed projects with clients in various industries and received multiple awards for her dedication and performance. Susan is also an avid wine enthusiast and a holder of WSET 3 level certification.
Susan received her Bachelor of Science from NYU's Stern School of Business, and graduated cum laude.
Zhaoyu is a Principal at ZhenFund where he focuses on education and O2O sectors. Prior to joining ZhenFund, Zhaoyu was Vice President of Education International Corporation, one of China's leading providers in overseas study. He also served as Principal at Taiyuan New Oriental School.
Zhaoyu received a Master's Degree in Management from Peking University and a PhD in Education from Beijing Normal University.
Grace is a TMT vice president focused on mobile and internet sectors. Before joining ZhenFund, Grace was a senior investment analyst at Shanda Innovations, where she participated in several mobile internet deals for sourcing, execution and portfolio management. She also worked for Shanda's budget and e-book operations prior to ZhenFund. Grace currently sits on the Board of four ZhenFund TMT portfolio companies.
Grace graduated in 2010 with a B.A. in Accounting & Finance from the University of Hong Kong.
Daniel is a vice president at ZhenFund focused on gaming and enterprise companies. Before joining ZhenFund, Daniel worked in Deloitte's TMT group and participated in several internet sector audits, including Renren, 56.com and Nuomi. He started his career at FiveMinutes as a gaming data analyst.
Daniel attended the University of Toronto Rotman School of Management, where he received a B.A in Commerce.
April is the Administrative Director of ZhenFund. She has worked with Bob Xu as his executive assistant since 2007 and was ZhenFund's earliest team member. She graduated in 2008 with a B.A. from Beijing Normal University. In 2010, she completed the American Language Program at Columbia's University.
Gilda is the Office Manager of ZhenFund and is responsible for the company's office management and events. Gilda started her career with the Shangri-la Hotel Group. Prior to joining ZhenFund, she managed the office of a major European PE fund. Gilda graduated from Qingdao University with a bachelor's degree in Tourism Management.
Gina is the Senior Legal Counsel of ZhenFund. Prior to joining ZhenFund, Gina worked at Han Kun Law Offices for 6 years specializing in cross-border transactions. Gina is a member of the PRC Bar and the New York State Bar. Gina received her LL.B. and Bachelor of Economics from Peking University, and her LL.M. from Georgetown University.
Helen is the finance Manager of ZhenFund and is responsible for tracking the financial information of the company. Prior to joining Zhenfund, she worked at KPMG as an assistant manager. Helen graduated from Guanghua school of management of Peking University and studied abroad at ESADE Business school in Spain.
